6 Ways To Wear: Printed Midi Skirt

Thank you so much to everyone who wrote in with feedback about what type of content you’d like to see more of in the months ahead.  Many of you mentioned that showcasing different ways to wear one key piece would be helpful since budgets are tight and you want to get the most bang for your buck when you do make a purchase.

So, today I’m sharing 6 ways to wear a printed skirt for summer – the concepts here will work with just about any skirt you own & it definitely doesn’t have to be a midi length.  The one I’m featuring here is under $30 & comes in regular, petite & tall so you can get your perfect fit (it’s also available in polka dot or solid black if you prefer).

I decided to highlight this essential piece because I think most of us already own a printed skirt.  But, if you don’t, I’ve included several affordable options in the scrolling bar at the bottom of this post.  I purposely chose this particular style because the colors are neutral & it has a darker background, which means it will transition seamlessly into the fall (it’s practically begging for a cable knit sweater & booties!).  I’m breaking down each look for you below + sharing my styling tips for maintaining a flattering silhouette.

6 ways to wear a floral skirt

1) Running Errands
Knotting a tee at the waist is the easiest way to dress down any bottoms in your closet, including trousers or skirts (I also love transforming dresses by layering a tee over the top & tying it at the waist.  Throw on sneakers to keep the vibe casual & sporty and you can walk for miles while looking cute & staying comfy.

2) Farmer’s Market Trip
A denim jacket is the perfect layering piece for pairing with summer florals – just be sure to wear something more fitted underneath so your shape isn’t lost.  This ribbed tank is a great wardrobe essential that you can wear a million different ways – it comes in several different colors & is on sale now.

3) Day At The Beach
What I love about midi skirts is that they can easily work as a cover-up too – just wear over your swimsuit to the beach or pool & slip it back on before you leave so you can walk around town or grab a bite to eat!

4) Sunday Brunch
Give your printed skirt a feminine feel with a puff-sleeve top, summery accessories & metallic block heels – perfect for a day of wine-tasting, a bridal/baby shower or brunch with the girls!
Smocked Top // Raffia Belt // Midi Skirt // Bamboo Clutch // Block Heel Sandals

5) Date Night Out
Dress it up for date night with a silky camisole & heels – if it’s cooler in the evening, grab a neutral moto jacket to give your look a little edge.  In the fall, you could swap out the camisole for a fitted sweater & wear booties instead of heels.

6) Backyard BBQ
A bodysuit is ideal for wearing with all kinds of skirts because you don’t have to worry about it staying tucked in as you move around throughout the day.  Slip on some flat sandals & you’re ready for a picnic in the park or a barbecue with friends & family.
